Hyperthyroidism is over-production of thyroid hormone, presenting with weight loss, heat intolerance, palpitations, anxiety, and tremor.

Hyperthyroidism is diagnosed by suppressed TSH with elevated free T4 and/or free T3. Graves' disease is the most common cause; toxic nodules and thyroiditis are next most common. Care is endocrinology-led, with biomarker monitoring of TSH, free T4, free T3, and antibodies as appropriate.
