Does oMeds treat depression with hormone pathways?
oMeds does not treat primary depression. When low mood is downstream of confirmed hormonal deficits, optimization can help — TRT for men with low testosterone, BHRT for peri/menopausal women — but psychiatric care is the primary path for depression.
Full answer
Depression is a psychiatric diagnosis that requires evaluation and care from a mental-health clinician. oMeds is not a primary mental-health provider. When low mood is downstream of confirmed hormonal deficits — low testosterone in men, peri/menopausal estradiol and progesterone shifts in women — optimization pathways can support mood as a secondary effect of correcting the underlying deficit. Provider review screens PHQ-9, sleep, thyroid, and substance use before considering any pathway. Patients with primary depression are referred to appropriate psychiatric care.
Educational. Not a substitute for individualized provider review.
