How often should I get bloodwork?

Short answer

Healthy adults: annually. On hormone or metabolic optimization: baseline, 8-12 weeks, then 3-6 months once stable. Symptom-driven or condition-specific monitoring sets its own cadence.

Full answer

Bloodwork cadence depends on what is being optimized. Healthy adults without active optimization typically benefit from annual comprehensive review (CBC, CMP, lipid panel with ApoB, fasting insulin, A1C, vitamin D, TSH, and sex hormones when symptomatic). Patients initiating hormone optimization or GLP-1 therapy follow a baseline → 8-12 week recalibration → 3-6 month stable cadence. Symptom-driven workups and active disease management set their own cadence. The principle: bloodwork is a feedback instrument, not a one-time snapshot.

Educational. Not a substitute for individualized provider review.
